Plugs are essential sealing components used in various parts of a mud pump to close off access ports, fluid passages, inspection holes, or unused threaded connections. They help maintain internal pressure, prevent fluid leaks, and protect internal components from contamination, dirt, or accidental ingress of debris during operation.

Typically made from high-strength carbon steel or stainless steel, plugs are engineered to withstand high pressure, corrosive drilling fluids, and vibration. Threaded or hex-head designs allow for easy installation and removal during inspection, flushing, or maintenance procedures.
